The long corridor was a very lifeless silver colour. It felt like a bomb shelter with all the greys. At the end of the corridor was a large door, similar to a bank vault door with the round dial on the front. The rest of the corridor was empty, no one there....
Seiyya stepped out of the submarine and into the corridor, her face steeled. She was ready to come across anything (years in deep space tended to prepare you to expect the unexpected), but her phaser wasn’t out yet. Still, one hand hovered close to the holster as she stepped out, looking down the corridor. Just one large door, with a dial- it looked thick and heavy. It was either some kind of vault, or perhaps an airlock of some kind leading to more water. Either way, bad idea to open without backup, so she didn’t go closer to it.
Essen strolled inside, whistling that little tune she was singing earlier as she looked around, trying to make heads or tails of this new place. Interesting... it seemed rather claustrophobic, but Essen still made her way inside, noting the large bank-vault-like door. "Well. If anyone's gonna steal us they're gonna have to get through that door," Essen remarked quietly.
"Respectfully, I do not think anyone would want to steal any of us at a dilithium refinement fascility." Alizati said as he glanced at Essen and then at the long corridor.
Mira followed Essen inside, also taking note of the surrounding area. Although it was getting a bit dark, at least for her visor. "Right about now I wish this visor had infrared," she remarked. "Oh, Alizati, do not worry. I suspect Essen was joking. Us being stolen is the least of our worries."
"This place needs an interior decorator is what it needs," Suss glanced around at the cold floors. "Where's our lovely investigator guide?" He asked, sarcasm dripping in his tone.
Essen turned back around to the lieutenant junior grade as he offered to protect her. "Huh! I got myself a bodyguard." And then she held up her hands. "I'm kidding. I promise, I'm kidding. I appreciate you helping to protect me, heh. But you obviously don't know that I know kung fu. That being said, hopefully I won't have to use it."
"Hey, hey, you never know," Allan said with a bit of a teasing tone towards Alizati, "the dilithium's already pretty damn valuable, might as well take our own valuable assets along with it if they can." He was, obviously, mostly joking as they walked down the corridor.(edited)
Yoro'clis looked around the room, somewhat feeling at home in the lifeless grey space. It was purely utilitarian, something th,at he greatly appreciated. When someone commented on decorations he felt a need to respond. *"Why would we need a decorator? The space serves its purpose."
As Maya stepped in she quickly pulled out her tricorder. "Aiiyeeee, I think someone likes you~" Maya playfully teased with a chuckle as she gave Essens arm a light pat as she scanned the corridor
"Heh. Well. Guess that makes two of us," Essen said to Chris, as she kept on looking around. When Maya told Essen that Chris evidently was starting to like her, Essen snickered back. "Ah well. Too bad I'm a lesbian. He can still look though. I don't mind the attention."
"You'd be surprised," Allan said in response to Rai, also singing a little out of habit of wanting to sing along with other people, even if he didn't know all the words. "You haven't seen just how fast they can be, honestly, until you see one of them get away with a treat and try to chase them down for it."
"I suppose that is true. I think scientifically they cannot be 'as fast as lightning', I mean," Rai told Allan, unfamiliar with the song but he liked the vibes. It was a nice break from... whatever was happening in the sub.
"Heh. Well, in that case, you can look but don't touch, I am happily taken," Essen said playfully to Chris. "I could use the water gun in case someone tries to beat me up, too." And then she turned back to M'jar. "Onwards!" Essen remarked, and she followed M'jar!(edited)
"We have yet to encounter a single enemy," Suss mentioned to them, thinking it was a little too early to think about methods of attack. This was an energy refinery, not some crazy prison camp.
Aaaaand a facepalm from Mira at the moist joke. "Ergh..." was all she managed to utter at that before she followed the group onwards. "I agree. We must be observant first and foremost."
The Jem'Hadar drew his phaser and walked with the rest of the group, agreeing with Kya. They were soldiers on a mission. He just hoped that at least some of the group would start acting like it. "Remember why we are here everyone. Be alert."
T'She followed along with everyone else once more, trying to remain serious and professional about the mission and all that. "Understood," They spoke in a quiet but even tone, eyes trained in front of them.
There was the large door at the end of the corridor, it was the only logical way to get into the refinery it seemed. One could attempt to open it or perhaps use force, but it was large and metal.
"No door can stop me!!!" Chris exclaimed as he charged full force at the door and threw his tiny purply body at it, making a soft squish noise when he inevitable fell on his lil piggy ass.
Vara'l idly placed a hand on his holstered phaser as he moved to the edge of the group and looked about. As he did he pulled out a tricorder from his belt holster, snapped it open and proceeded to set it to scan. "I agree with the Honoured Elder, stay alert people." He mused then as he followed along. "It'd appear we've located the entrance." He then observed, partly in what was an attempted play to pretend he'd not overheard the..joke that had been uttered. The utter groaner of a joke, in his eyes, a joke he happened to dwell on for a few moments before.. that happened. "Are you alright, Lieutenant?" He then inquired.
"Lieute--" Mira attempted to stop Chris, but was too late. "--nant." As she merely examined the door, putting her hand on it instead. "I am unable to deduce if this metal is susceptible to phaser fire."
Chris rubbed his lower back as he stood up. "Yes i'm alright. oww.... I guess the door won," He said with a giggle and looked to the nice Klingon-Vulcan and gave him a thumbs up. "Thanks, I am glad I tried!"
The Honored Elder stared disappointedly for a few seconds before remembering that he needed to be productive. "If you are willing to step back, I can try to open it." After a few seconds he attempted to operate the door as it was intended.
Aaaaand nothing. "Agh, come onnnn," Essen said. "Oh well. We gotta find another way. Chris already tried the first thing I had thought of. Using some sort of battering ram, and that didn't work."
Mira looked around for any sign of electrical panels. "Is there an electrical interface around the door?" Mira said. "Perhaps if an engineer is able to access it and then override the door controls."
Jena stood by Mira as she stepped into the corridor, relating to the vision thing with her tricorder out and phaser close to her. Turning to M'jar Suss for a little moment.... how Sus was he? probably not that sus and just concerned for his crew. She didnt know. "Maybe there's a keypad or passcode keeping it locked?"
Yoro'clis looked around for someone who knew what they were doing. Starfleet was known for their engineers, so hopefully someone had actually thought of bringing one along. As soon as he saw Allen, the Honored Elder decided to let them do their job. He stood back with his phaser ready. "Perhaps we should prepare in case there is anything on the other side of the door."
Perfect! A console. Alright. If there was some sort of password input, he just put in 'dilithium' as a test, just to see what would happen. Maybe he'd get lucky, but it was mostly just to see what the process of inputting the wrong password would be. "Yeah, or there could be like... some weird alarm, so - probably best to stay back anyways?"
Ato watched awkwardly from a position at the back of the pack, his head probably towering over most of the crowd. Except for the other freakishly tall Vulcanoids, apparently. He was not a hacker, and not super beefy. Just like, a normal half-Vulcanoid amount of beefy.
"Ohh ohh this reminds me of that earth game, the one where you guess 5 letter words!" Chris jumped up and down, he was short so this wasn't very high jumps.
"Damn, okay, the password isn't as easy as 12345, but it is five letters... yeah, any guesses?" He polled the crowd, because... why not? And then laughed a little at Maya's answer, but he shrugged. "Sure, sure. We'll try that." And he put that in! Moist, specifically.(edited)
Mira at first didn't know what Chris meant, but then after a second... "I believe you are referring to Boggle, lieutenant--" before Maya pointed out MOIST as a password possibility. "An... interesting choice, yet it does fall within the five-letter threshold."
It was likely an unnecessary concern, but Yoro'clis had to wonder if the hostage takers had set up a defensive position on the other side of the entrance. The last thing that the group needed was to walk into a trap. "Form a wall in front of the door, everyone else not working on the door, get behind us."
Saith hung around near the back, bouncing up and down on hit toes. "Sir, I do not think that's how you spell password. Um - should we really be guessing? I'm just asking because what if they have security measures up or..."
"Damn. Not moist," he sort of leaned against the wall next to the console as he looked at it, trying to see if the console itself had any super easy way to just... short circuit it and let them through easily that way. "Yeah, usually the third wrong try might do something, so we gotta have some reaallly good guesses on this next one or I'm not putting it through."
"Maybe the keypad would give us a hint? in case someone forgot the password?" Jena suggested "Some word codes are like that an- ah we have an O. what position?"
"Clearly what we need to make sure two-factor authentication is enabled and steal someone's phone so we can get this thing to text them the verification code and then enter in our latinum card number and the three funky digits on the back, and..." He sighed. "Yeah, I have no idea what to do."
"Oh, that's it? Easy. 3942 3586 6978 4950, and uhh, three funky digits, 420?" Yeah, he was just being a little silly while he was waiting on more guesses, 'cause why not? "Nothing wet on the keypad, though, unfortunately."
Sponsor break aside, Mira looked at Maya with a bit of confusion. "Lieutenant Commander tr'Kota," Mira said. "Are you able to calculate the possible words with O in the appropriate spot?"
"O's not in the second position. No clue which one it is in, though." He looked at the screen for confirmation of that. Yep. Cool. "Nah, not at all. Kinda shit, innit."
"Is that a real word, boss?" Allan asked, knowing that it probably was a real word given that Alizati had said it, but - it was moreso a question to hear the definition if anything.
Yoro'clis figured that it would not hurt to pitch in. It was clear that not much had happened yet. "If I may recommend a work in your language, heart may provide some letters."
"Voids." Ato said from the back. "I don't know. This seems quite silly." He raised an eyebrow and his little antennae wiggled in confusion. Was this really how the Moneans protected their buildings?
Mira also considered it for a moment. "Not only something with vowels, perhaps, but also something that the Moneans find valuable enough to use as a passcode?"
"Ohh, wait, that might be good, I think - quota seems a bit... like, q is pretty rare, so adieu - how do you spell that, Sai? Like, it's got vowels and a d and not an O, right?" he asked, and would promptly put it into the thing when told how to spell it. He'd heard it plenty from Rennie, that did not mean he knew how to spell it.
"A-D-I-E-U, I think, but I know that's probably not the answer, so it doesn't matter if it's spelled right. All we want is that it's got A, I, E, and U in it, which knocks out all five of the vowels including O." Saith glowed with pride under the praise recieved. Awesome.
"Thanks, I'll just put that, we've still got plenty of guesses..." Allan just put in adieu when told how to spell it, because it did have a shitton of vowels they could then check, in different positions as well.
"Oh shit, wait, do we think it's Monea...? No, wait, o isn't in slot two, yeah..." Hmmm. He put his hand on his chin as if that would make him think better.
"You could always type it in slot 2 just so we can guess the other letters?" Suss suggested, seeing they still had 4 guesses and they already knew 2 letters.
"If the password is somehow A-E-I-O-U, I'm going to punch something." Jena softly said to herself, half jokingly, just realizing that could be a possible answer. "Bloat also works?"
"Float might actually be - a lot of words have the 'oa' combo, yeah? So that could be our placement if we get that right... okay, anyone opposed to trying float?" He asked, not wanting to just put in another guess just because he liked it.
Alllrighty then, he put in 'float' into the password box and submitted it. "Okay, yeah, we'll see how that works, and then we still have three more after that, so we're doing real well."
He sighed, looked down at the console, and then back at Eshen for a hot second, then smiled a little before he just let out a little laugh as he went to type again. "Okay, okay. Bacon it is, let's go," and he tried that. Why not?
"....I... Do they have bacon here???? I know there are alternative bacons that are not pork but... wow okay" Jena was reasonably confused on why that's the password of choice, but also glad the door was open, so there wasn't much point in questioning it
“Oh!” Dezyim moved over to Saith. “Thank you for what you said earlier.” He smiled before his face shifted to be more serious. He leaned in, and lowered his voice. “What exactly… is bacon?”
As they were never any help with puzzles, they opted instead to head straight to #mess-hall , hoping that they would be more useful there than they were with words.
"It's pork that's cut into thin strips, I think." Saith grinned over at Dezyim. "It's good! Float was good, it eliminated a lot of those OA combinations, so!!" Oh wait they're moving okay let's go!!!
